Damien Rochford
Damien Rochford
Damien Rochford is a Bronze Sculptor in Hampshire.
Born and raised in Manchester.
Trained in Graphic Design and Illustration at Bolton College of Art and Design.
In 1980 I moved to Bristol, Studied Post Graduate Illustration and Printmaking, focusing on the human figure, at Bristol College of Art and design, Bower Ashton.
I've lived and worked in many parts of the country including Manchester, Bristol, Stamford (Lincs), Norwich, London, and finally moving to and settling in Whitchurch in Hampshire with my wife and family.
I have worked for many years (27 I think) as an illustrator up until the present day including for the following... Publishing, Advertising, Editorial, Animation, Educational Computer Software, and Video Games Industries. Both full time and as a freelancer.
During this time I have also exhibited paintings and drawings through various art exhibitions.
I have always been fascinated by the 'Fine Arts' both sculpture and painting. In 2007 I took up sculpting seriously producing a series of small busts in Bronze. In 2009 I started work on a new series of animal sculptures, producing so far, a Kingfisher, a Wren, a Tiger , and a Hare. All have been cast in Bronze and have been exhibited at the Wykham Gallery in Stockbridge.
I work with a variety of materials when creating the original works including; traditional clay, modelling wax, plasteline (oil clay) and polymer clays. The finished works are then cast in Bronze or resin. I constantly draw and find it not only a great asset but essential in working through the creative process in creating sculpture.
I am currently working on a new series of animal sculptures which I hope to have completed over the next few months, and cast in Bronze early in 2010.
